Leaders of Romania’s governing coalition are expected to discuss a new strategy designed to promote the new Fiscal Code after Romanian President Klaus Iohannis rejected the draft on June 17. The talks were announced by Rovana Plumb, acting president of the governing Social Democratic Party, in a statement on Sunday. Ms. Plumb condemned as a ‘huge farce” the move by the opposition National Liberal Party (PNL) rejecting the project after the Liberals were formerly supporting it. The PSD would consider three possible moves aimed at passing the new Fiscal Code during talks on Monday: assuming responsibility, adoption of an emergency ordinance or a call for an extraordinary session in parliament.
